"The Haven and Skillion represent approximately 10.5 ha of Crown land. The Skillion is clearly visible from the Scenic Highway, parts of Terrigal Beach and the main entrance road (Terrigal Esplanade) into the Terrigal Business Centre. It is generally recognised as a prominent landmark and a major element in terms of the visual and historic image of Terrigal. The Haven consists of a small protected bay, sandy beach and adjoining sandstone landforms that provide a wide ranging array of water and land based activities and opportunities. The uses of the Haven relate to and complement the Terrigal Business Centre and it is very important that a link remains between the two." - http://www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/customer/document_gallery/wamberal/environmental_impact.pdf
I believe that there is nothing to be worried about with the Skillion. There are no major problems with the formation except for the falling off rocks occasionally. But Gosford City Council have established that they have put up signs and warned the local people and tourists that it could be dangerous if you were to walk under it. The Skillion is a beautiful and popular landmark that has been well sustained for many years.

"Coastal erosion and the threat to development along the foredune at Terrigal/Wamberal Beach have been recognised for many years. This was highlighted during storms in 1974 and 1978 that resulted in the loss of two houses. The nature and the extent of the coastal hazards are well defined through a series of studies and investigations over many years. Gosford City Council formed a coastal committee in 1984. Since that time Council has actively pursued a coastal management strategy for Terrigal/Wamberal Beach to secure development while protecting the recreational beach amenity as a community asset. In particular, Gosford City Council is pursuing the implementation of a management strategy for all beaches on the Gosford City open coast in accordance with the requirements of the NSW Government Coastal Hazard Policy (1988) and the recently adopted NSW Coastal Policy." - http://www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/customer/document_gallery/wamberal/environmental_impact.pdf
"The original Terrigal Haven Plan of Management evolved through a team-approach with direction from a Stakeholder Group including key Council staff, members from the Terrigal CBD Building Committee, the Coastal Planning Committee (CLP Committee), a representative from the LPMA and a number of key local community stakeholders. Ageneral community display and presentation was also organised to capture the issues and concerns of the public using the Haven as a resource. The 2006 version of the Terrigal Haven Plan of Management was placed on public exhibition by Council and gazetted by the LPMA prior to adoption, providing ample opportunity for community feedback."

Gosford City Council have created management plans to preserve the lagoons and beaches. They have suggested that the suburb or any groups that would like to keep the beaches and lagoons of their area clean and inviting such as The Wamberal – Terrigal beach preservation group have annual days or weeks every year to clean the lakes and lagoons. They also said that they will pay for all the equipment required and hire more people to help out.
